Inactive Retired Standing Form
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Upper Midwest
In keeping with the Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), regions are responsible for reviewing and certifying the Standing of all ordained and commissioned Disciples clergy living or serving in the Upper Midwest region each year. When your Standing is acknowledged by the Region, your name is listed in the official Year Book and Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for the ensuing year. Ministers with Standing may call upon the Christian Church for services, support, references, relocation assistance, denominational endorsement and scholarship aid.
Retired ministers who are no longer engaging in the practice of ministry on an occasional, part-time, or full time basis may seek Standing as Inactive Retired Ministers. Once you submit this form and it has been approved, you will be exempt from the annual standing process. Your status as Inactive Retired will continue in perpetuity. You are welcome to contact the regional office to change your standing back to Active Retired at any time if you feel called to return to active ministry. Inactive Retired Clergy are not required to submit continuing education. If you change your standing back to Active Retired, you will once again be required to complete continuing education hours, including boundary training.
Inactive Retired Clergy ARE listed in the Year Book and Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) .
Please submit this form ONLY if you are retired and no longer intend to engage in occasional, part-time, or full-time ministry.
Applications for standing are reviewed only by the members of the Executive Unit of the Committee on Ministry and all information shared on this form is kept confidential.
