Preachers

Rev. Allison Bright

Rev. Allison Bright (she/her) was raised in a rural Missouri congregation that trusted young people with real ministry. When that trust led her to the pulpit as a teenager, she discovered the work God called her to. She spent most of her twenties studying storytelling and scripture, eventually earning her Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School, where she was a Walker Ministerial Preaching Scholar. Today, Allison serves the local church as Associate Minister at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the general church through the Disciples–ELCA Bilateral Dialogue. These days, much of Allison’s spiritual practice happens in the garden, where she talks to God with her hands in the soil and God answers in the scent of tomato plants and the towering faces of sunflowers. In the garden and in the pulpit alike, Allison believes the Church is at its best when it tells the truth with beauty, courage, and hope. Allison shares life with her fiancée, Karen, a therapist who is rarely far from a good book.
